6 Ways for New Real
Estate Agents to Generate
Leads

There’s one thing that all real estate agents know—a real estate business can’t survive without leads. Having a full pipeline of leads is so important, but it can seem really difficult to achieve when you’re a new agent.

In this article, we’re breaking down six ways for new real estate agents to generate leads. These strategies will work no matter where you’re located or what types of properties you sell.

1. Leverage your existing network.

People don’t like being sold, but they love shopping with friends. Make sure your friends and family know you are a real estate agent and that you are always looking for leads. There is a good chance they may know people who are in the market for a new place to live. Keep in mind, your friends and family have connections of their own and will be happy to tell their friends about you.

2. Nurture and grow relationships.

Remember to continue to grow your relationships with acquaintances and people you interact with in day-to-day life. You don’t even have to pitch your services. Just be willing to offer your expertise by paying attention to their needs and offering your help.

For example, let’s say you’re checking in at the gym for a workout and the receptionist comments that her tub drain is clogged. When you mention that you know a good plumber you can connect her with, that leaves an impression. You become someone they can trust when they have a problem. Guess who will be the first person who comes to mind when they need a real estate agent? That’s right. You!

3. Meet new people.

Find creative ways to connect with new people. It’s important to continuously put yourself in situations where you’ll meet new people. So join a gym, hit up a new coffee shop, or find a new place to eat breakfast. Do you have hobbies? Connect with others who share that interest. And don’t forget to attend industry events where you can connect with other real estate professionals.

Remember, this is just about consciously choosing to meet new people. You don’t have to sell them yet. Just make genuine and sincere connections with them. If meeting new people is uncomfortable for you, think of it this wayーevery single person you know was at one time a stranger to you.

4. Build your personal brand.

Having a strong personal brand can change your business and your life, but a personal brand is more than just a pretty logo with pretty colors. When you get clear about who you want to be known as and start showing up online with consistent content, you’ll be able to generate leads on autopilot through your social media.

Combine that with leveraging the power of your local media to shout it from the mountaintops, and you’ll stand out from your competition and get noticed. To learn more about building a personal brand check out our course on How to Build Your Personal Brand.

5. Maximize the power of social advertising.

Use the power of social media algorithms to continually generate real estate leads for you, even while you’re sleeping. Studies show that 90% of home buyers rely on the internet as their primary research source. By using social media ads, you can get in front of the exact buyers and sellers who need your services and get more eyeballs on your listings.

6. Get involved in your community.

Don’t forget to get involved in your local community. Try volunteering, and show up at local events like town hall meetings and fundraisers.

You could also offer your expertise by giving a free seminar about being a real estate agent at your local community college or career fair. You will become known for giving value and stand out as a leader. When people see you, they will automatically think of real estate.
