How to Create a Morning Routine in Real Estate

There’s a reason why nearly every successful person has a morning routine: It’s necessary.

Learn how to create your own morning routine as a real estate agent.

Why is a morning routine necessary?

When your days are filled with meetings, phone calls, open houses, and hectic schedules, you need something to ground you in the moment and get you focused. The more you have on your plate for the day ahead, the more important it is to carve out time for yourself and something that matters to you each morning. Could you sleep an extra 30 or 60 minutes? Sure. But that’s the easy way out. That’s what everyone else does. That’s what gets you the same things you’ve already had in life. If you want MORE, you need to give more—so set your alarm and join me in starting a morning routine.

My morning routine centers around my workout. It’s the absolute hardest, most miserable part of my day, which is why I get it out of the way first thing. If I didn’t wake up at 5 a.m. and drag myself across the street to get it done immediately, there might not be another time to do it. And for me, missing a workout is not something I’m willing to do. Whatever is essential to your health and happiness is your job to prioritize. No one is going to set the alarm for you, pay for the gym for you, or do the workout for you—only you can make the choice to put YOU first.

I highly recommend a morning workout routine because it makes everything else in your day seem easier. Negotiating tough deals and working with demanding clients is not easy, but it’s SO MUCH easier than the squats and assault bike intervals I do before the sun even comes up. Pick the hardest thing you have to do every day, and do that thing first. Get it over with. You’ll be glad you did.

By the time I get to the office and begin my work, I’ve already been up for hours. My blood is flowing, my brain is fully awake, and I’ve already crossed off the toughest item on my To-Do List. Not only does that give me confidence, but it also makes me more alert and focused. I can literally do my job better because of my morning routine.

Find your thing and build a routine around it.

If morning workouts aren’t your thing, pick something else that’s equally important and challenging. Maybe you spend 45 minutes each morning studying for a class or exam you’re taking so that you can focus on work and not worry about running home early to do it. You may spend 30 minutes making yourself a healthy breakfast while listening to the news so that you’re not tempted by unhealthy office food that throws you off your diet. Maybe you spend 15 minutes meditating on your bedroom floor. The point is, a morning routine gives each day a consistent starting point and tells your mind and body it’s time to get to work. Pick something that you know you need to be your best, and get it out of the way before you do anything else. I promise that you’ll be healthier, happier, and more productive as a result.

Here’s how Ryan Serhant’s morning routine as a real estate agent goes:

1. Start with the hardest, most miserable part: wake up at 5 AM to work out. Everything else will seem easier after that.

No one else can make you get up, go to the gym, and do your workout but you and you alone. Besides, compared to other tasks you’ll be facing throughout the rest of your day, they’ll be less taxing to perform than the strenuous exercises you’ll be doing in your morning workout.

2. If working out isn’t your thing then find something to do that’s equally important and challenging. Before going to the office, you can:

* Study for an exam * Make a complete breakfast * Meditate

Do these for a healthier, happier, and more productive you.", "image": "https://ryanserhant.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Morning-Routine-Header.png", "author": { "@type": "Person", "name": "Ryan Serhant", "url": "https://ryanserhant.com/about/" }, "publisher": { "@type": "Organization", "name": "Ryan Serhant", "logo": { "@type": "ImageObject", "url": "https://ryanserhant.com/wp-content/themes/ryanserhant.com/assets/images/header-logo.png" } }, "datePublished": "2021-03-18", "dateModified": "2022-01-12" }
