Why You’re Working the WRONG Way

Why You’re Working the WRONG Way

Are you feeling stuck in your life? Trapped in a rut, and it seems like nothing you do will get you moving in the right direction. There’s a pretty good chance that the problem is you are working the wrong way.

I pride myself on working hard. I show up, I am ready to work, and I do this every single day. However, I still couldn’t be as successful as I do if I didn’t work the right way. You don’t have to work as hard as I do to work the right way, and that is what I’m going to talk about in this article.

Before we look at how to work the right way, let’s look at why most people work the wrong way.

What Is Working the Wrong Way?

At the end of the day, there is no quick, easy path to success. Being successful requires hard work and dedication. But, there are ways to make it easier on yourself.

You can work hard, and you can dedicate time to work, but if you are simply going through the motions, then you are working the wrong way. If you simply show up to work and go home, or go to the gym and do the same thing every single time, then you are working the wrong way.

This isn’t work that will get you what you want out of life, all this will do is keep you busy. Your days will become boring, and they will blend together, and you won’t be able to see a noticeable progression, because you weren’t working toward one. You might find yourself bored or even depressed.

You need to stop working the wrong way and challenge yourself to make the change in your mind and your behavior that will lead to the place you want to be.

How Can I Work the Right Way?

In this section, I am going to give you the relevant considerations and ideas that you need to consider to improve your working habits. You need to take control of your schedule and make a change in your life so that you achieve what you really want to achieve.

Set Your Goals

Here’s the thing, if you want to start working the right way, you have to want it. You can’t be okay with simply being commonplace, with simply going through the motions and getting through the day. You have to realize that this won’t leave you fulfilled. You have to clearly define what it is you want out of life, and you have to start making that happen.

Find the Time to Get Things Done

Sometimes, the most important work is the effort you put in after work. If you are serious about getting everything you want, you can’t simply look at work as a 9-to-5 time commitment. You have to start seeing it as doing whatever it takes to achieve those goals you set out for yourself.

You’ll quickly find out that this means dedicating a lot of time outside of the traditional work hours. But that’s okay, because it is time spent chasing something you are truly passionate about. It’s not the regular, boring work you don’t care about. It is time you are spending building what you want for yourself, and what could be time better spent than that?

In fact, you’ll quickly see that your life won’t be some drag 9 to 5. You’ll wake up each morning with a new goal, or a new experience to keep things fresh. The work you put in will open up new, exciting opportunities.

It Isn’t Complicated

Some people think that the secret to success is a complicated formula that you can only master with years of study. This is an impediment to your mindset. If you think success is out of reach, then it is! It’s easy to think this way - it’s easy to attribute your lack of success to not knowing the right people, not going to the right schools, not having the rights skills.

But the truth is that the core factors that I attribute my success to are available to absolutely anyone. Anyone can be the hardest working person in the room. Anyone can structure their day so that they are working toward their goals in a productive manner. These are the true drivers of your success, and you can start right now.

Time Management

The fact is, we all have 24 hours a day. If you truly capitalize on these, you will find that your opportunities are not so different from someone who went to those fancy schools or has all those connections.

It all starts with proper time management and planning. You need to set aside a time at the end of every day to plan your next day. Look at your goals, and see what you can do tomorrow to meet those goals. The fact is, you don’t want to waste time during the day deciding what you should be doing, so take care of it the day before.

If you don’t even know where to start, track one of your days. Write down what you did every hour of a single day. See what you have been doing, and what you could be doing to improve that. There are always opportunities to spend your time more efficiently.

Stand Out

Finally, I build my brand by showcasing my uniqueness. I am never afraid to do something wild to secure that sale. I’ll do a dance, I’ll bring in a drumline. Whatever I have to do to lock down that sale and stand out from the crowd, I’ll do it.

You can bring your own personal touch in any way you want! Be creative, think outside the box. You have something unique to offer, and you need to show that off to stand out from the crowd.

Conclusion

I know it can seem overwhelming, so let’s focus on the one common theme that runs through all of this advice. That theme is - if you take care of the work, the work will take care of you. Plan your days for success, and then follow through, it really is that simple.

You already know what you want out of life, so build a plan to make that happen. As long as you work toward it every single day, you will get there.
