Your Legacy is Your Destiny - Create Your Destiny

Your Legacy is Your Destiny - Create Your Destiny

Your legacy is your destiny. That sounds corny but it’s true. If you are focused on your legacy, what you leave behind, what mark you will leave, then you can become destined to create that legacy. You can turn that legacy into your destiny, because you will not stop until you achieve it.

Sit down, right now, and focus on what your obituary will be. And, I know, it sounds pretty morbid, but thinking like this can define your legacy.

Think of what people would know you for. Then, think of what you want people to know you for. This difference is where you can challenge yourself to create your reality. This is what you are working toward, and what you need to seize control of.

I will start this article with one thing that I truly believe:

You’re Destined to Become Whoever You Decide to Be

Sometimes, it requires a pretty powerful shift in perspective to achieve what we set out to. I recommend that you make your philosophy this – you will achieve what you decide to achieve. The first step in doing absolutely anything is to decide that you want it.

You need to truly believe that whatever you decide you want to do, that’s what will happen. Belief is an incredibly powerful tool. And it isn’t going to be easy, there will be roadblocks, and nothing will go exactly to plan. But, if through all that, you maintain your belief that you will get there, then you will simply not stop trying until you achieve it.

In this article, I’m going to give you a three step plan for taking your goals and creating a reality. I’m going to talk about how you can start where you are right now, decide where you want to be, and actually get there.

So let’s get started, here is how you can create your own legacy and take control of your destiny:

Creating Your Destiny

Creating your destiny will be a challenge. It will take hard work, it will take focus, and it will take habit. But if you truly want to change your life, then you know there is no cost too big. My three step plan is a broad series of steps that you need to understand in order to create the destiny you want.

Step One: Decide Who You Want To Be

The first step to writing your own legacy is deciding who you actually want to be.

If you are in a position you don’t want to be in, whether personally or professionally, I want you to sit down and account for it. I want you to decide what is and isn’t actually making you happy. You need to evaluate whether your situation is paving the way to the legacy you want to have, and then decide what changes you need to make to get there.

It’s a cliché, but you only have one life to live. So whoever you decide you want to be, if you truly believe in it, then you will work to achieve it. And the first step is actually deciding what you want.

Step Two: Do What You Decided to Do

Of course, once you have decided what it is that you want, you need to actually do it. Sounds obvious, but that doesn’t make it any less important.

You need to get started now. Just rip off that band-aid. Don’t expect it to be easy, because most things worth doing aren’t. In fact, it will be weird, uncomfortable, and probably painful.

But the thing is, in a week or a month or a year, the scariness of today will mean absolutely nothing. Because you will be on your way to a brand new life that you created yourself. You are not going to regret chasing something that you want, but you most certainly will regret the alternative.

This step is about taking control. Realize that no one will do this for you. But you you are capable of it, right now. So don’t let time pass you by wishing you were doing something else. Whatever you think is standing in your way, stop letting it. No more excuses.

Step Three: Keep Going, Don’t Quit

I’ll tell you the biggest fear I have in my life – wasted potential. And I know that the only way I am going to squeeze all of the potential out of my life is if I don’t quit. I can’t quit, or else I won’t achieve my legacy. I won’t be who I want to be.

It doesn’t matter if your potential obituary right now is short or stacked with achievements, there is still more to do. There is always more to do, because we are not happy when we sit around. We are happy when we go and get things that make us happy.

I don’t quit, and you don’t quit either. If you followed the first two steps and you have seen a vision of what you want your life to be, then you aren’t going to quit. Quitting will get you nowhere, but if you keep going you can have everything you ever wanted. That’s a pretty obvious choice to me.

Conclusion

The message that permeated this article was the power of belief. I am talking about true belief, when you absolutely know something is true. Because if you know it, then it becomes real.

You need to make your destiny one of these unshakeable beliefs. You need to know what you want, and know that you are going to get it.

In this article, I gave you a three step process for creating a legacy and making it your destiny. It might seem unrealistic to take a three-step process and apply it to people’s wildly different goals. But at the end of the day, if you know exactly what you want, and you are absolutely sure it will happen, then it will.
